It comes with a 4-year/50,000-mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty and a 6-year/70,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. The Altima only comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile Basic Warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty.

    Innovative Service Features

    When designing the Buick LaCrosse, engineers incorporated a few innovative features to make getting service easier and help prolong the life of specific components. The LaCrosse comes with an innovative “limp home system.” Under certain circumstances, when there is severe engine trouble, the LaCrosse will only run on half of its cylinders and show the driver a warning lights so they can still travel to a nearby service station.

    Another unique setup in the LaCrosse is the location of the battery. Most cars have them stored in the engine compartment. In the LaCrosse, the battery is found in the trunk, where it can be 20-30 degrees cooler. This helps prolong the battery’s life. The Altima does not come with a limp feature and keeps the battery stored in the engine compartment where it’s incredibly hot. You might find you need a tow truck more often if you drive the Altima. 

      Engine Power

      Both the LaCrosse and Altima are available with two engine options. The LaCrosse comes with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 194 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. The Altima also comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, but can only get 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.

      The available V6 on the LaCrosse delivers 310 horsepower, while the optional turbocharged four-cylinder on the Altima only gets 248 horsepower.
